How to apply for R350 grant

To access financial assistance through the R350 grant, which is made available by the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA), eligible individuals can submit their application online. This grant is specifically aimed at unemployed persons, refugees, and those who do not have any form of income.

In order to apply for the SASSA R350 Grant, applicants need to fulfill certain conditions, such as being between the ages of 18 and 59, having no alternative source of income, and not currently benefiting from any other social grants provided by SASSA. If you meet these criteria, you can proceed with the application process for the SRD grant.

Option 1, apply via SRD portal online.

To apply for the R350 grant, follow these steps:

1. Visit the SRD portal online.
2. Enter your cell phone number and click the “Send SMS” button.
3. You will receive a 6-digit OTP number via SMS.
4. Enter the OTP number and click the “Verify Pin” button.
5. Agree to the Terms and Conditions for the Declaration and Consent Document Rules.
6. South African ID holders can provide an ID Number, while others can enter a Special Permit File Number.
7. Provide personal details, including your name, surname, address, and gender.
8. Provide your banking details (bank name, branch, account type, and number) or choose the payment option “Send Cash.”
9. Submit your payment option and agree to the Terms and Conditions.
10. Wait for SASSA to verify your personal and banking details with the Department of Home Affairs database.
11. You will receive a confirmation message on your mobile number indicating that your SRD R350 grant is active.
12. Asylum seekers and Special Permit holders will receive a Payment ID to collect payment at Pick ‘n Pay.

Option 2, apply via Whatsapp.

1. Send Whatsapp message to 082 046 8553
2. Provide details as prompted by the chat
3. You will receive a reference number with an OTP number and website link to click on
4. Click on the link and insert the OTP and click verify
5. You must provide your Surname and ID number
6. Confirm details as provided by the chat
7. Continue to step 2, Agree to terms and Conditions.

How Check SASSA SRD R350 Grant Application Status

You can check the status of your SASSA R350 application by following these steps:

1. Visit sassacheck.com
2. Locate the ‘SRD R350 Grant’ section on the homepage.
3. Click on the ‘Check Application Status’ button.
4. Enter your ID number and cell phone number when prompted.
5. Submit the form to check your application status.
6. The system will provide you with the current status of your R350 grant application.

Your application status will indicate whether it’s approved, pending, or declined, along with details on your Application ID.
